According to the WPA records that can be found under Lamar County, MS Gen Web site, Lamar Lumber Co. operated a sawmill at Clyde from 1910 to 1915. They sold out to Helen White Lumber Co. in 1915. According to some of my relatives, Clyde was a settlement to the east of Sumrall. I get the impression it was populated mostly by the people who worked for the lumber company.
