I am interested in trying to prove that William White Sr (born ~1753) that died before 1825 in Lawrence County Ms was the father of William White born 1786. I think y-dna would prove that these two are in fact related, and could be father and son. At very least it would gives clues that would help locate others that are researching the same White families. Looking for William White in SC is like finding a needle in a hay stack, it is just a too common name. To complete 2 y-dna to "37 markers" cost about $450. That a lot for one person to pay. Two "25 marker" test cost about $300, and two "12 marker" test is $200. Remember this is two test one from a descendant of Wm. White born 1786 and one from descendent of William White born ~1753. My husband only male (WHITE) Uncle died years ago with no children. I have a volunteer for the younger William branch. I still have to find volunteer for older William to submit sample of DNA. I am thinking that this could help all those other White family researchers. If the cost could be spread out between many descendants of the White family, a better test could be obtained. Are you interested in helping with cost to find these answers. If don't know about Y-DNA see http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=S83007&special=true and http://www.familytreedna.com/public/white/ PS These Lawrence County families have y-dna test already..... Lambert, Brown, Price. I am sure that there are others, check your surname to see if someone has done your branches of other lines in your family already. Notify Administrator about this message?
