In a book that I have called "Looking Back", a James J. McFadden, a long time resident of Leake County, died around January 14, 1888. He was born in South Carolina 58 years ago and moved to Mississippi about 1853. He settled at the place occupied by Major Jones. A few years later, after the death of the owner, he acquired the ferry site on the Pearl River.
This information was in the local newspaper, The Carthaginian.
