Barbara, John T. Taylor is one of my biggest brick walls. I have him on the 1900 Leake county census, and it lists your James Alfred as "jimmie. One of John's other son, Simon Perry Taylor is not on that census, however, Simon Perry Taylors son, Marvin Taylor, wrote a book titled "Sharecropping in Leake County MS, Beat 5" and in this book, he said his grandparents were John Taylor and Nancy Marillo Coleman. I don't think Nancys maiden name is Coleman even though he lists it in his book. I have found reference to her as being a "Henry" Keep in mind, he was speaking of his grandmother, and he was in his 70's when he wrote this book, so maybe his memory was not what it once was. I would love to correspond with you concerning this line of Taylors. I live within 50 miles of Leake County MS, and can (and have) visited the courthouse with ease. If you need me to find something for you, I would be glad to do it.
