Josephine Winnie Heidel, 82, died May 18, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born July 1, 1925, in Wartburg, Tenn. She was a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Lansing, Tenn. She lived her life as a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother and sister. She had a God-given talent for music and loved to sing hymns and play her guitar.
Services were at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland-Harris Funeral Directors with burial in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors included her children, Jennifer Heidel Cummings (Rick), James Albert Heidel (Sue), Kim Leathers (Brian), all of Tupelo, John H. Heidel Jr. (Betty) of Ann Arbor, Mich., Jeff Heidel (fiance, Veronica, Leneau Crawford (Don), Dean Whitcomb (Michelle), Steve Whitcomb (Tamra), Shari Whitcomb Grigg; three sisters, Anita Morgan and Nola Hamby, both of Lancing, Tenn., and Viola Hall of Los Angeles; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Lynn Heidel; five brothers, John Lee Winnie, Tom Winnie, Ted Winnie, Carnell Winnie and Carl Hamby; and four sisters, Willie Mae Cannon, Daisy Tony, Virgie Jett and Alma Hamby.
