Ronald Douglas "Bull" Long, 58, died June 6, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. A Tupelo native, he was born Feb. 2, 1950, to Gene Long and Syble Estes Long Blackwell. A 1968 graduate of Tupelo High School, he then attended Hinds Junior College. Earlier in his life, he worked at Rockwell International and Action Industries. He later worked as a mechanic at Rebelanes and was married there to Theresea Long on his birthday, Feb. 2, 1990. He worked several years at Computer Connection before doing freelance computer work. He was currently working for Barbeque By Jim doing his bookkeeping, and also for Wingate Hotel. An avid bowler, he participated in numerous tournaments, served as an officer for the Mississippi State Bowlers Association, and would have been inducted into the Mississippi State Bowling Hall of Fame had it not been for the stroke he suffered on his induction day, May 24, 2008. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Ole Miss Rebels fan.
Services were at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial was in Unity Cemetery east of Plantersville.
Survivors included his wife of 18 years, Theresea Long of Tupelo; two daughters, Kayleen Long (Ronnie) and Ali Long, both of Tupelo; his children, Richard Ray and Jennifer Babakhanyam of Hollywood, Calif., and Michael Ray of Mooreville; his mother, Syble Blackwell of Tupelo; his sister, Karen J. Long of Auburn; his step-brother, Michael Blackwell of Baldwyn; and his step-sister, Sherry Hastie of Spokane, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Long; his step-father, Ralph Blackwell.
