Joseph Lee "Joe" Ivy died June 14, 2008. He was born Oct. 7, 1946, to Mose and Ruby Ella Ivy. He was a member of Johnson Chapel M.B. Church. He married Earnestine Ruff Ivy in 1972. Later in life he married Betty Ivy. He joined the Marine Corps Reserves Forces Class III on Feb. 2, 1970, and served three years and received several medals. He was an avid carpenter and fisherman.
Services were at Johnson Chapel M.B. Church in Shannon with burial in the Johnson Chapel Cemetery in Shannon. Agnew and Sons Funeral Home of Verona was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included one son, Joseph L. Ivy, and one stepson, Rodney Hicks, both of Nettleton; four sisters, Ollie M. Blackmon and Mamie Ivy of Tupelo, Mary Z. (Robert) Birks of Nettleton and Darlene D. (James) Brownlee of Shannon; four brothers, Rev. Archie L. (Jeanette) Ivy and Mose O. (Jean) Ivy of Milwaukee, Wis., Jessie R. (Oteria) Ivy and Jackie G. (Lois) Ivy of Shannon; a special friend, Angie Shannon; his best friend, Bruce Trice.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Fred Lee Ivy.
