Hello Deb, I lived there for a few years back in the 40's as a kid. I left in 1943, but remember that a lake (McNutt) ran through the north and south side of town. Altho it was considered a small town, it had a High School, a theater, a drug store, a couple grocery stores, a couple department stores, a Chinese store, an ice house and several other stores. It was a pretty nice town for those times, but I've been back several times since and it's fallen on hard times-as many other small towns. Altho young then, I still have a lot of memories about those days in Schlater. If I can find more about the history of Schlater, I'll let you know. Thanks, Holton
