Faye, I was raised near Money, which is not far from Shellmound. I have relatives buried in cemeteries not mentioned in the other posted information and this might be of some help to you. (1) There is a cemetery near a church on the river road from Shellmound to Money, the cemetery is just behind the church and on the road, and there are quite a number of people buried there. (2) There is a cemetery on the road between Shellmound and Moore's Lake, that is off in the woods between this road and highway 49 to Minter City. This is known as the Hughes Cemetery, and there are very few markers. My great-grandmother(Kearney) is buried there and the marker is intact with an iron fence around it. I hope that this might be of some help. It has been a long time since I lived in the area,and I don't recall a mishap like you described.
