In about 1937-1940, I lived across the street in Greenwood, Mississippi, from a Mrs. Habig. She lived with her sister, Mrs. Stewart, and Mrs. Stewart's husband and son Jack Stewart. Mrs. Habig had one son Billy Habig who was born in about 1925. Billy lived with his mother. I used to play with Billy and Jack Stewart. Jack was born in about 1928-1929. Mrs. Habig was a beautician. She and Billy moved to McComb, Mississippi in about 1940 or 1941. Several years ago (maybe 5-10 years ago), I saw in the Jackson, Mississippi newspaper, "The Clarion Ledger/Jackson Daily News", an obit for a William Habig who died in McComb, Mississippi. I would guess this was either the one I had known or his son.

Could this Habig Family be the one you are looking for? In the 1937-1940 time frame, I don't believe there were any other Habig's living in Greenwood,Leflore County, Mississippi.
