I am looking for the parents of my maternal great grandmother Martha Bell HULL who is said to have been born 24 Mar 1850 at Lowndes County, Mississippi. ( One source I have found on the internet says she was born at Lamar County, Alabama? I will have to work on that, but all the other records still say Mississippi ) On 04 Oct 1869 at Shepherd Church, Fayette Co. Alabama, she married George Washington Belk. To this union ten children were born. Martha passed away on 17 Feb 1919 at Belk, Fayette County, Alabama. On her Death Certificate it gives James HULL as her father's name. I have looked for different James HULLS with not much success. On the 1880 Census she should be 30 years old. ( Martha Belk ) But That Census shows her as 27 years old which would make her birth year 1853 Year: 1880; Census Place: Lee, Fayette, Alabama; Roll: T9_13; Family History Film: 1254013; Page: 513B; Enumeration District: 84; Image: 0535. FAM#44 DWEL#51 – SHOWS BOTH HER FATHER AND MOTHER WERE BORN IN TENNESSEE. The 1900 Census shows her father as being born in Alabama and her mother as being born in Mississippi. And finally the 1910 census lists both of her parents as being born in Mississippi. I have yet to find her on the 1850 and 1860 and 1870 census years. In my research so far I show William and Eliza (McCown) HULL as having seven children and James M. HULL and his wife as having eleven children. I am interested the in James HULLS and other Hulls who were born, resided, and died in Fayette, Lamar, Pickins counties of Alabama, Also Lowndes County and other nearby counties of Mississippi and James HULLS in Tennessee. Any help would be most appreciated. Eddy A. Flick - eddyflick@comcast.net Notify Administrator about this message?
