The 1880 Census shows Sarah, 56, b. NC. With her is her mother J. W. Harton,75,b NC, and an apparent family of blacks: Miranda, 25; John,7; Mary,4; Japtha, 1; and Martha,3M--all born in MS. I would guess that Miranda is the mother of the children. I have been researching Hartons from North Carolina and would appreciate any information or speculation about this family.
