According to William Henry Rankin, author of "Reflections of the Past, The Warren Cemetery", Oscar died of typhoid fever.

I recorded the inscription on Oscar's grave marker at the Warren Cemetery. It reads as follows:

OSCAR SON OF F.M.
& M.H. FORBES
BORN JULY 11TH 1871
DIED JUNE 13TH 1896
A precious one from us
is gone. A voice we
loved is stilled.
A place is vacant in
our home which never
can be filled.
