Dr. C. R. Senter, who left Fulton some 32 years ago died in the Baptist Hospital in Memphis on November 23, 1954 after an illness of about a month. He died of Leukemia, a rare blood disease. He was 61. Dr. Senter left Fulton for Byhalia in 1919, after being discharged as a First Lieutenant in the Medical Aviation Corps in World War I. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Medical School. He was serving Byhalia for his fifth term as Mayor at the time of his death. Funeral services were held at the Brentley Funeral Home in Olive Branch with burial in the Memorial Cemetery in Memphis.
Survivors included his wife, the former Miss Mabel Hester Pruitt; and two sons, Curtiss R. Senter Jr., of Memphis, and Roderick Joel, of Philadelphia, Pa.; four brothers and three sisters.
