Dorothy Jean Thompson Walton, 67, died April 18, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was a self-employed day care provider. She was a member of Hopewell No. 1 M.B. Church in Holly Springs, where she was church treasurer and a member of the choir.
Services were at Hopewell No. M.B. Church in Holly Springs with burial in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included three daughters, Cora Walton, Renee Taylor and Debbie Walker, all of Holly Springs; one son, Robert Walton of Memphis; seven sisters, Doris Reed, Sandra Woods and Flossie Woodson, all of Holly Springs, Sarah Woods of Hickory Flat, Shirley Cathey and Margaret Woods, both of Memphis, and Carol Rooks of Pearl; four sisters, Herman Woods of Holly Springs, Eddie Woods of North Carolina, Clarence Woods of New Albany and Albert Woods of Hickory Flat; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Walton, and a daughter, Marquette Wilson.
