By 1840, the Indian tribes in Mississippi had been relocated, mostly to Oklahoma. I'm sure there were individual Indians who escaped the relocation of the early to mid 1830s, but tribes as a whole were gone by 1840. The major ones were Choctaw, Cherokee and Natchez with 3-4 smaller ones.
