Jeff, Yes, the early death certificates have spaces for the names of the father and mother of the deceased. As for what was written down, that would depend on what the informant knew so don't be surprised if the words "Don't Know" are written in. You never know, though, so it's worth a shot. The Archives in Jackson has copies of these up to the 1940s.
