legend of 4 irish creel brothers who settled in Miss during the potato famine

I am the great-great-grandson of John Creel (1838-1926) of Grover/ St. George, Dorchester, SC. I do not know who his parents are.

THe family legend is that 4 brothers immigrated here from Ireland during the potato famine. They settled in Mississippi. John Creel was stationed at Ft. Sumter in Charleston during the Civil War. When the war ended, he begin walking home to Mississippi. He stopped in St. George, SC and lived out his life in the area.

Has anyone else heard this story. I am hoping to tie my John Creel with the Creel families of Mississippi that were his brothers.

Please help.

Scott Burns
