Where is ''BRANCH, Co. looking for Smith's/ Tates

I'm looking for any connections to Mary Frances Tate Smith and Marion Calloway Smith in 1840's - 1850'S .
They went to Clarke, County Arkansas with three sons
Willis, Marion and James , all were born in Georgia including parents Mary Frances and Marion Calloway Smith.

I have been surfing trying to find connections and found a post giving Branch, Co. Mississippi as a possibility,
I can't find a Branch County, so it has changed can anyone help me out? Please and a big Thank you, LaVon
