I am researching the family of my great grandfather, Wiley JOHNSON, who was born in Mississippi in 1831. I am looking for information about his exact birth date and birth place, when he died, where he lived after 1870, and whether he was the Wiley Johnson who was a Reconstruction Congressman in the Texas State Legislature from Marshall, Texas. My great grandfather married Eliza PATTON-JACOWAY sometime after the end of the Civil War. She was born in 1830 in Tennessee. They were slaves who might have been owned by the Benjamin Jacoway family in Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, and Arkansas. The 1870 US Census for Dardanelle, Yell County, Arkansas includes Wiley and Eliza with their seven children (living next door to the Jacoway family):
