Elbert Andrew West, 52, died June 15, 2008, at the Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. He was born Aug. 15, 1955, in Aberdeen to Albert and LaVada Strickland West. He lived in Amory most of his life. He was employed with the City of Amory Street Department for many years before retirement. He attended Freedom Baptist Church. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Becker-Athens Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He married Patricia Ann Leach in 1977. She preceded him in death in January 2008.
Services were at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.
Survivors included three daughters; three brothers; one sister; three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; two brothers, Demas West and James Strickland; and two sisters, Nora Faye Coleman and Elizabeth Eldridge.
