Sampson “Sam” Webb, 85, died June 30, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Monroe County to William Clady Webb and Louella Nichols. He joined the U.S. Army in December 1942 and was a heavy equipment operator for the 436th Bombardment Squadron in Egypt and India during World War II. He worked for Bently Plumbing in Amory and International Harvester in Memphis before moving to Tupelo. For 35 years he was self-employed as the owner of Webb’s Plumbing Company. He finished his working career in 1982, retiring from the North Mississippi Medical Center’s maintenance department. He was a member of the Verona United Methodist Church.
Services were at Holland-Harris Funeral Directors Tupelo Chapel with burial in the Chapel of Faith Mausoleum at Lee Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maurine Whitman; and one brother, William Webb.
