Mary Helen Kirksey Blair, 92, died July 3, 2008, at Cedars Health Center in Tupelo. She was born June 3, 1916, in Light, Ark., to James Alvin and Helen Anderson Kirksey. She lived in Newport and Pocahontas, Ark., and attended schools there and in Camden, Ark., and Troy, Ala. She moved with her family to Greenwood Springs in 1931. She graduated from Greenwood Springs High School. She married Houston Mansel Blair on May 13, 1933. She lived in Houston for many years before moving to Amory in October 1964. She moved to Traceway Manor in Tupelo in July 2004. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Amory. She was a charter member of the Outreach Circle and received an honorary lifetime membership in the Women's Society of Christian Service in 1942. Her hobbies included needlework, sewing, cooking and playing bridge.
Graveside services were at the Masonic Cemetery in Amory with E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in charge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Mansel Blair, on Feb. 20, 1983; her parents; a brother, Robert C. Ledbetter; and a daughter-in-law, Billie Johnson Blair.
