William Stephen "Bill" Peugh, 68, died July 6, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on Jan. 14, 1940, to Charles Brown Peugh and Josephine Haney Peugh. An Eagle Scout, he was a graduate of Aberdeen High School Class of 1958. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degrees from Mississippi State University in 1963 and 1969. He was a retired educator with 35 years of service with the Aberdeen Public School District. He was a math teacher and a guidance counselor at Aberdeen High School. A member of Mississippi Counseling Association, Tombigbee Counseling Association, he was selected as the Aberdeen Jaycees Educator of the Year. An active member of First Baptist Church of Aberdeen, he served as a deacon for 27 years, Sunday School Director, President of the Brotherhood Men’s Mission Group, and a member and officer of the Aberdeen Camp of Gideons International. He traveled extensively for mission trips with World Changers to Washington, South Carolina and multiple trips in Mississippi. He also traveled with Mississippi Baptist for mission work in Alaska, Mexico and Honduras. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish and camp. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Services were at the First Baptist Church of Aberdeen with burial in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Jannette Mobley Peugh of Aberdeen; one daughter; one son; three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Francis Charlene Peugh; one brother, Charles Brown Peugh Jr.
