Sarah Elizabeth Harris Owings, 87, died July 19, 2008, at the Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. She was born on March 26, 1921, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to Samual Judson and Delta Yerby Harris. She lived in Pleasant Grove, Ala., and in Wren since 1980. She was a member of the Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church and she was married to Edgar Dudley Owings in 1949 who later died in 1997. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and she worked in a nursing home in Pleasant Grove, Ala. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and she enjoyed sewing. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Services were at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with burial in the Haughton Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers and sisters.
