Evelyn Laverne Moore Medley, 85, died May 6, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born May 30, 1923, in Monroe County to William Ezra and Viola Turman Moore. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and a member of the Smithville Methodist Church. She married Owen E. Medley Jr. in 1955; he died in 1992. She was a homemaker. An avid birdwatcher, she enjoyed gardening, animals and spending time with her family.
Services were at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Smithville with burial in the Smithville Cemetery.
Survivors included one son, Owen E. Medley III (Melissa) of Sapulpa, Okla.; one daughter, Lynda Ellinwood Aldridge of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Frances M. Gregory of Olive Branch and Peggy M. Jones of Little Rock, Ark.; sister-in-law, Marcelle H. Medley of Smithville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Billy James Moore.
