Bessie Eula Brown Cowley, 88, of Amory, died Nov. 26, 2000 at Beverly Health Care in Amory. She was born Sept. 6, 1912 in Pontotoc to Thomas A. and Mamie Stewart Brown. She married Thomas Lee Cowley on Feb. 5, 1933. She was a member of Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Services were Nov. 28, at Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Burial was in Pearce Chapel Cemetery in Smithville.
Survivors included two sons, Sidney B. Cowley and his wife Betty of Cary, N.C., and Jimmy D. Cowley and his wife Anita of Smithville; one brother, T.A. Brown Jr. of Dexter, Mo.; one sister, Frances Bowen of Fulton; five grandchildren, Melissa Watkins, Melinda Cowley, Connie Cowley, Mark Cowley and Chris Cowley; four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; two brothers, James and Grady Brown; and one sister, Myrtle Whitehead.
