Rebecca Coggin, 89, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Oak Tree Plantation in Amory. She was born May 4, 1920, in Plantersville to Ralph Cunningham and Jessie Brown Cunningham Mullins. She married William Carl Coggin Jr. in 1941; he died in 1998. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Amory, where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, the choir and United Methodist Women’s Association. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Garden Club, the DAR, Canasta Club and Dance Club. She was known for her apple pies at church potluck dinners. Her smile and sense of humor will be missed.
Services were at the First United Methodist Church in Amory with burial in the Haughton Memorial Park. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, William Paul Coggin; two sisters, Mary Frances Foster and twin Rachel Dukeminier; one brother, Bennie Cunningham; and a great-granddaughter, Sydney Elaine Watson.
