Thanks Jay,

I'll certainly check the French Camp cemetery out. I'd like to get to the area I mentioned NE of Winona to take a look at those cemeteries and can swing by French Camp.

PDF zoom and pan county maps,,if interested
http://www.gomdot.com/maps/county_maps.asp

The Winnie Thompson, wife of Preston Stevens had two sisters
Matilda and Mary Ann, all three girls mentioned on a guardian document, 1840 Carroll County. Children of deceased Thomas Thompson,,Alex J Townsend appointed guardian with John W Herring, J L Stevens, William Townsend appointed appraisers to the estate.

I found onlne, Attala Genweb a Matilda Thompson 1837-1890 buried at Bethel Methodist Church in Attala. So many Thompsons in the world to bank on her being my Matilda but about the right birth date for her.

Of course the whereabouts of the Stevens are my main concern but researching all the allied families may lead to them I hope, and where they came from.

I have found the Reddick P and Darby Stevens mentioned in Ashley and Drew County Arkansas.
Preston, James L, and William A, i'm still looking for.

I'm thinking there were several clans of Stevens/Stephens in the Carroll/Montgomery area and just trying to sort them out as kin or not kin. I do know mine were clustered about 6 miles NE of Winona, mid 1800s.

Doing a "Yahoo White Page" search I've noticed ther are a few Ste"V"ens living in the Winona area, Could drop a dime on one of them,,, may help.

I'm throwing all this info out there just hoping some folks will take notice of something that'll help and maybe help them too, my reason for such a long thank you. And when you get a chance, ask your Thompson cousin for any advice.

Thanks again
jerry
