I am looking to see if I can extend the Riser branch of my family tree. Since the name Riser seems to be rather prominent in Newton County history, I thought I would ask if anyone had any more about the Riser in my line. Specifically, I am stuck on David Riser. Here is what I have on him presently: DAVID RISER was born 1804 in Franklin County, Georgia. He married NANCY HOLLINGSWORTH November 17, 1831, daughter of ISAAC HOLLINGSWORTH and DORCAS SMITH. She was born January 11, 1808 in Franklin County, Georgia, and died Bet. 1852 - 1856 in Newton County, Mississippi. Children of DAVID RISER and NANCY HOLLINGSWORTH are: i. MARTHA JANE RISER, b. 1832. ii. MARY JANE RISER, b. August 24, 1833, Newton, Newton County, Mississippi; d. September 02, 1900, Riser Community, Newton County, Mississippi; m. ANDREW JACKSON HOLLINGSWORTH, SR., Abt. 1858, Newton, Mississippi; b. December 07, 1835, Decatur, Newton County, Mississippi; d. April 04, 1907, Newton, Newton County, Mississippi. iii. ELIZABETH B. RISER, b. November 1839. iv. SARAH CATHERINE RISER, b. October 18, 1841, Mississippi; d. June 30, 1900, Newton County, Mississippi; m. ISAAC ALONZO HOLLINGSWORTH; b. May 1848, Madison County, Mississippi; d. December 1929, Thomastown, Georgia. v. STEPHEN RISER, b. Abt. 1844, Mississippi; m. MARY A.; b. Abt. 1851. I am a descendant of Mary Jane Riser and Andrew Jackson Hollingsworth, Sr., by way of their daughter Sarah Catherine Hollingsworth, who married my great grandfather William Frederick Duke. Any information, clues, or links on David Riser and his ancestry would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. James A. Duke, Jr. Jaduke@aol.com Notify Administrator about this message?
