Seeking more information about the ancestry of William McCraney (1810-1895) of North Carolina. Another McCraney researcher found him in the 1880 census for Newton County, Mississippi. It showed he was born in North Carolina, as was his father and mother. His wife was Elizabeth Ann (Unknown), born in Georgia or South Carolina.

William and Elizabeth Ann had one son and two daughters. It is believed one of the daughters eventually moved to Oklahoma. I am a descendant of his son William Thomas McCraney (1860-1931), who was born in Mississippi. William Thomas married my great grandmother, Henrietta Jane Brown (1863-1942) in Newton County, Mississippi in 1880.

Here is what I have presently on William McCraney:
WILLIAM MCCRANEY was born October 07, 1810 in North Carolina, and died August 09, 1895. He married ELIZABETH ANN February 18, 1837. She was born November 20, 1817 in Georgia or South Carolina, and died June 1898.

Children of WILLIAM MCCRANEY and ELIZABETH ANN are:
       i.       WILLIAM THOMAS MCCRANEY, b. February 18, 1860, Mississippi; d. March 05, 1931; m. HENRIETTA JANE BROWN, November 02, 1880, Newton County, Mississippi; b. August 30, 1863, Mississippi; d. March 10, 1942. 10 children: BERTHA, CORA (m Madden), JIM, LULU (m Hattaway), MAGGIE (m Madden), TOM, WILLIAM ARTHUR (1881-1955), AUSTIN A (1885-1937), WINNIE IDA (1890-1930 m Duke), and ELIZABETH SUSAN "Lizzie" (1892-1974 m Kirby).
ii.       UNKNOWNA MCCRANEY (female), m. UNKNOWN WILLIS.
iii.       UNKNOWNB MCCRANEY (female), Moved to Oklahoma.

Any additional information on William McCraney from the readers of this forum would be greatly appreciated.
