Newton County, MS WILLIAMSONs

I had this typed up in answer to a query on the Newton County, MS board and thought since it relates to WILLIAMSONs I'd post it here as well.

Joe and other WILLIAMSON researchers:

In reference to Peoples/Peter I believe that it is Peter. For the younger Stephen I'm almost positive because he is listed on one of the census records as Peter and another as Stephen. As for the elder it's speculation on my part but believe it may be Peter.

As for the 1880 and 1900...I'm not sure which family you're asking about but this is my census work on the WILLIAMSON families of Newton County, MS....

Stephen and Rebecca WILLIAMSON I have in Newton County for 1850-70

Stephen and Harriet WILLIAMSON I have in Newton County in 1850-1880 of course some of those years he is with his father and I have not traced Harriet.

Delilah WILLIAMSON and William WILLIAMS I have her on the 1850 with her father Stephen WILLIAMSON; nothing for 1860; with William WILLIAMS on the 1870 and nothing after that. I have not traced any of the children but those listed on the 1870 are: Artie Missy WILLIAMS who married Alexander BOUTWELL; James Madison WILLIAMS who married Cora PIERCE; Martha Ann WILLIAMS who married Alphanese DAVIS; George Washington WILLIAMS who married Phoebe HORN; John Patterson WILLIAMS who married Mary Ann "Molly" EVERETT. Those children I've been told of but who I didn't find on any census records are: Robert H. WILLIAMS; Emma Lee WILLIAMS who married James EVERETT; and Lency Jane WILLIAMS who married Charles N. BRADFORD.

Wade WILLIAMSON and Nancy _____ I have him on the 1850 with his father and with Nancy on the 1860. I REALLY NEED him on the 1870 to prove his connection with the Wade I'm researching that ends up in Union County, Arkansas in 1880 with wife Annie. I have more on this families down lines should it prove to be the same Wade WILLIAMSON and anyone is interested.

Emily WILLIAMSON and Zechariah LEWIS I have them living with her parents, Stephen and Rebecca WILLIAMSON, on the 1850 in Newton County; 1860 they are in Newton living as a couple and in 1870 & 1880 she is still there but listed as head of household and a widow. I only have Zechariah LEWIS on the 1850 and 1860 and presume he may have been in the civil war and died (presumption on my part). I loose Emily after 1880 but her son John LEWIS married Caroline E. _____ and are in Newton County on the 1900 and 1910. In 1870 and 1880 there is a Sarah Jane LEWIS living with Emily and Zechariah LEWIS ...can anyone tell me how she fits in? In 1860 they have also living with them Lavinia, Willis, and Amanda (all listed as LEWIS).

Stephen Peter WILLIAMSON’s descendants:
As stated before Stephen WILLIAMSON is in Newton from 1850-1880. I've been told died in 1897. I have Harriet in Newton from 1860-1880 and then loose her.

Stephen Peter WILLIAMSON’s Children:
Delila Lucy "Belle" WILLIAMSON and Columbus WARREN: I have her in Newton in 1860-1870 but then don't pick her up again until 1900 in Newton County.

Green Emanuel WILLIAMSON that married Georgia Ann PERMENTER are in Newton in 1870 and 1880. Then in 1900 they are on the Madison County, MS census.

Rebecca Jane WILLIAMSON who married James Abner PERMENTER I have on the 1870 & 1880 in Newton County and in Scott County, MS on the 1900.

Nancy Jane WILLIAMSON who married William P. PERMENTER I have on the 1870-1880 in Newton and then in Madison County, MS on the 1900.

Benjamin F. WILLIAMSON I only have on the 1880 in Newton County.

William WILLIAMSON I on the 1880 in Newton and then in Madison County, MS in 1900 living with his brother Green WILLIAMSON.

George Wesley WILLIAMSON who married Nancy WATKINS I only have on the 1880 in Newton County.

Wade "Fred" WILLIAMSON I only have on the 1880 in Newton County.

I've been told of a Sarah Elizabeth WILLIAMSON and James A. WILLIAMSON as children of Stephen and Harriet WILLIAMSON but I've not found them on any census records.

IF anyone can add to this I'd love to hear from you. Please don't take my hard work and just run with it...if you know something that may help my research please do contact me!

TIA and Happy Ancestor Hunting,

Dana
