Looking for parents of my George W. Pierce.

George Washington Pierce - born JUN/09/1828, died in 1917. Married Mary S. ??, born DEC/14/1838, died JUL/22/1899.

Mystery: What was the maiden name of Mary S. Pierce?

Could this be Mary? (The names Mary & George children show a possibility.)

George & Mary Pierce are buried in the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton Co., MS.

Names & dates taken from the journal of his son, Spencer Lewis Pierce, my grandfather.

Mary M. Pierce, born APR/30/1855, married John C. BARRETT on NOV/11/1880 in Newton Co., MS. John was born 1860 and died FEB/01/1891 at the age of 31. He is buried at the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Children: Ida Bell Barrett, born SEPT/04/1881; Luther W. Barrett, born OCT/20/1885; Arthur Washington Barrett, born FEB/14/1889; Lonzo or Lonso Comadore Barrett, born May/16/1890.

In 1900 Newton Co. census Mary is listed as a widow living with the children in the household of Wiley H. GRAHAM. Mary is listed as a servant. Ida listed as a boarder and the other children as lodgers. In 1910 Luther is listed as head of household with Mary, Arthur & Lonzo living in the household. Have found record that Ida married R. C. GERMANY in Neshoba Co. in 1902.

Dora A. Pierce, born APR/15/1857, married George W. GUICE on NOV/18/1884 in Newton Co. (Her name is spelled Pierse on the marriage license.) George W. Guice was born AUG/03/1856 in Hamburg, Franklin Co., MS and died DEC/06/1942 in Franklin Co., MS. One known child: Lorene Caroline Guice, born APR/12/1887, who married a HEDRICK and had sons, Norris and J. M. Hedrick, and 2 daughters, Ottie Lee Leach and Audie Mae Tatum.

Martha J. Pierce, born OCT/22/1859, died FEB/01/1902, married Robert J. "Bob" UNDERWOOD in Newton Co., MS on NOV/08/1883. Bob was born JUN/22/1856, died AUG/31/1929. Children: T. S. Underwood, born AUG/30/1884; M. E. Underwood, born MAY/27/1886, died AUG/29/1888; and M. J. Underwood, born JUN/02/1888.

Mary Elizabeth Pierce, born SEPT/04/1862, died AUG/18/1914, married Daniel Cal BOYKIN in Newton Co. on FEB/01/1887. Daniel was born SEPT/30/1863, died DEC/18/1943. Both are buried in the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton Co., MS. Children: Mary Frances Boykin, born JUN/21/1888, died OCT/14/1978; and Daniel W. Boykin, born MAY/12/1890, died FEB/04/1964. Both children are buried in the New Prospect Cemetery. My mother remembers that neither child married. They lived together at the family home until their deaths. Cal?s brother, Ben, disappeared for several years. Cal raised Ben's daughter, Nellie.

James Rank C. Pierce, born FEB/02/1865, died JUN/02/1948, married M. E. Jennie THRASH on DEC/15/1886 in Newton Co. Jennie was born MAR/03/1867, died JAN/30/1958. Both are buried in the New Prospect Cemetery. Children: George; twins, Velmer & Elmer; and Verlie who married a Walton.

Frances D. Pierce, born AUG/01/1867, died AUG/18/1915, married Alex N. BOYKIN on JAN/10/1889 in Newton Co. Alex was born SEPT/20/1865, died APR/27/1933. Child: W. J. Boykin, born NOV/08/1889, died NOV/26/1917. All are buried in the New Prospect Cemetery. Other Eliza, Lola Lessie, Exie, Lillie, Melrose, George and William (Bill).

W. W. Pierce, born MAY/25/1870, married Mrs. Fannie MORGAN on APR/22/1888 in Newton Co.

Lucie V. Pierce, born MAY/25/1870, died SEPT/28/1935, married R. S. "Bob" BOYKIN on FEB/13/1896 in Newton Co. Bob was born SEPT/14/1869, died JUL/27/1937. Both are buried in the New Prospect Cemetery.

Spencer Lewis Pierce, born AUG/07/1875, died OCT/23/1956. 1st married ?? & had one son. 2nd married Mapsie Liller Wyatt, born DEC/18/1889 and died AUG/01/1968. Buried in the New Prospect Cemetery. Children: Alvis Myrtis married Flossie Brown; Ardessa Lilly; Florence "Shorty"; Verna "Vernie"; Eddie Lee "Jess"; Mary Lou; Eva Jean; and Herchel Louis.

Mystery - Who was Spencer's 1st wife and unknown son?

Rance or Ranom Benton Pierce, born AUG/01/1878, died JUN/16/1934, married M. L. "Minnie" HEDRICK in Newton Co. on SEPT/26/1900. Minnie was born FEB/1883, died APR/03/1970. Buried in the High Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Neshoba Co. One know child: William "Bill" Pierce.
