Dana,
I think I am working on the Lewis - Williamson connection that you mention

"Emily WILLIAMSON and Zechariah LEWIS I have them living with her parents, Stephen and Rebecca WILLIAMSON, on the 1850 in Newton County; 1860 they are in Newton living as a couple and in 1870 & 1880 she is still there but listed as head of household and a widow. I only have Zechariah LEWIS on the 1850 and 1860 and presume he may have been in the civil war and died (presumption on my part). I loose Emily after 1880 but her son John LEWIS married Caroline E. _____ and are in Newton County on the 1900 and 1910. In 1870 and 1880 there is a Sarah Jane LEWIS living with Emily and Zechariah LEWIS ...can anyone tell me how she fits in? In 1860 they have also living with them Lavinia, Willis, and Amanda (all listed as LEWIS)."

My great-great grandmother was Sallie Lewis. She has been one tough cookie to trace.

She married Aquilla Williams December 16, 1880 in Newton County. She died 12 Jan 1945 in Cataula, Harris County, Georgia and is buried in Riverdale Cemetery in Columbus Georgia.

My mom had been looking for her for years, and before that, my grandmother was looking. Of course they waited to start looking after all of Aquilla and Sallie's children past away. I have only been looking for her for about a year now.

I found her on the June 1880 census living with Emily (the page before that you can find Aquilla and his parents and siblings). Of course at the time, I did not know that Emily was her mother, since the census taker in all his wisdom, failed to put on that page, how everyone is related. But then I see more Lewis' on the page:

When I head back to Columbus this week, I am going to try and get a copy of Sallie's DC. I have her obit, but it does not provide any help. ( I have all the kids obits except one and pictures of the graves too)

Let me know if you think we may have a connection, I do have more information on John and his kids, and the male named Willis Lewis listed on the 1860 Census. If I get lucky, next week I may have a list of Williamson and Lewis Marriages as well. There is a book in the Columbus Georgia Library for Newton County marriages and I plan on making a copy.

I hope we are working on the same tree, I need all the help I can get :)
