Hi. I am researching African-American BARBERs who lived in Centerpoint, Macon, Noxubee Co., Mississippi from 1873 and later. In particular, I am interested in the family and life of Virgina BARBER (b. 1873 , MS, d. after 1930). Virginia is my great-grandmother. Other than knowing that she was also called Jenny, and married SIdney (Sid) WEBB in 1891, I have nothing much on her family. I believe that she had several sisters with the names of Missouri, Lizzie, Savannah, Eliza and Kate. She may have also had a brother named Edward. If this is true, her parents may have been James and Caroline BARBER. Caroline was of mixed ancestry. I have a photo of Virginia, circa, late 1920s when she was close to 60 yrs. of age. Will happily make copies. Virgina and Sidney's children were: Viola WEBB Mary L. WEBB Amanda WEBB Addie Lee WEBB Sidney WEBB Caroline WEBB Gensie (Georgia) WEBB Willie B. (girl) WEBB Virgina (Alice?) WEBB Claudis WEBB Stephie WEBB Mary Mae Warren WEBB (my grandmother and youngest . b. in 1911, d.1976) and a grandaughter named Mary L. McCLEWIN. Other names of interest in regards to Virgina are AUSTIN, ROSS, STEWART, ELLIS and McCLUNG. Also, Virginia's parents were born into slavery in Alabama. If you are African-American and ANY of this rings a bell, please write me at readnow2@yahoo.com. In fact, if any of this is familiar and you are not African-American, you can write me too. Good luck in your searchings. Darlene Notify Administrator about this message?
