Foster Gandy died in Noxubee Co. MS in 1837. Have found his probate papers there. His wife was Temperance Atkinson Gandy. At the time of his death he had a married daughter- Martha, wife of Harmon Cooper. He had a daughter , Elizabeth who by the time the final settlement of the estate was made in 1840 had marrid Noah Hardy , as Noah and Harmon's names were listed with the children in property disbursed. Minor children at the time of his death were- John J. Gandy, Sarah F, Gandy and Mary Ann Gandy. Bennett Atkinson , brother of Temperance was the administrator of the estate of Foster and guardian of the minor children. Later, Sarah F. Gandy married Gabriel Bishop and John J. married Mary E. Bishop- still looking for information on Mary Ann. I have not found a marriage of Elizabeth and Noah Hardy but I did find where Noah, brother-in-law and closest relative to Sarah F. Gandy Bishop was given guardianship of her daughters after she and Gabriel both died. In 1870- Temperance and John J along with a son of John J. were living next door to Noah and Elizabeth Hardy in the household with children of Noah and Elizabeth and their husbands in Richland Parish Louisiana.I need to find when and where Elizabeth and Noah were married,I need to know what happened to Mary E. Bishop Gandy (wife of John J.)John J. is found in 1880 in Richland Parish Louisiana with a wife and children that would have been born before 1870 and we are trying to sort that out.
I am trying to trace the family of Foster Gandy- I know that he was in Nash Co. N.C. and had connections with a John Gandy in Green co. Al before he turns up in Noxubee, Ms.
Any help appreciated on these families. dotg@bayou.com
