Does anyone have any information about ANN JOHNSON, on Pontotoc Co. 1870 census, Family 342 , Page 50. Age 50, born VA. Listed with Harriet, age 22, Sarah 21, Lydie, 19, Martha 17 and John 12, all born NC. On 1880 Pontotoc Co. census, Page 19, Family 121 (faint print) she is listed with her son, John, head of house, age 21, his sister Harriett, age 30, and sister Mattie, 25. Same places of birth, Ann in VA and children in NC. I cannot find cemetery records for her in Pontotoc Co. or marriage records for the children.
I believe Ann on Pontotoc Co. census records is sister to my g.g. grandfather, Christopher Henry DeJournette, who died in Pontotoc in 1897, coming from Cabarrus Co. late 1880s. His sister, Mary Ann, listed as marrying "Saml. S. Johnson" in Cabarrus Co. NC 2/17/1847. 1850 Cabarrus Co. census has Samuel S. Johnson, Ann "R" (?) wife, with Mary U., Harriet E., age 2, and Sarah J., age 1. He was born NC and she VA.
I could not find the family on 1860 census in NC or MS. He evidently died before 1870 - did they come to Mississippi together? Any information will be appreciated.
