Sherman O'Neal Washington, 90, died Sept. 8, 2007. He was born Dec. 16, 1916 in Pontotoc, Miss. He was a life long member of the Church of Christ and worked as a carpenter by trade until he retired at age 65. He was a resident of Memphis, Tenn. until relocating in 2003 to Montgomery, Ala., to be near family, where he resided at Arrowhead Manor Assisted Living Facility.
Services were at Baldwin, Nowell and Clark Funeral Home in Pontotoc with burial in the Cook Cemetery in the Washington Community.
Survivors included two sons, Duane Washington (Barbara) of Mobile, Ala., and Jimmie Washington (Patsy) of Montgomery Ala.; his daughter-in-law, Christine Washington of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his grandchildren and great- grandchildren; two sisters, Geneva Prewitt of Pontotoc, MS. and Janette Hood of Houlka; two brothers, Atwell Washington (Lorine) of Houlka and Clifford Washington (Virginia) of Portland, Ore., one sister-in-law, Lona Faye Washington of Pontotoc; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Washington; a son Delane Washington; a daughter-in-law, Jannie Washington; one brother, Corbet Washington; and two brothers-in-law, Ottis Prewitt and James Hood.
