Jonathan A. Massey served in the 40th MS infantry unit from Attala Co. for the Conferate Army. He was wounded in the war and was a prisoner as well. I'm trying to locate his place of death and the date. I found a J.A. Massey, aged 74, born in Alabama, in the 1910 Pontotoc County U.S. Census. I'd like to see if this Massey is the same as Jonathan. Surely there must be some newspaper account of his death if he were a civil war survivor and or on some cemetery list. He was listed as a widower and lived alone at the time of the census.
Any help locating anything on this man is appreciated.
