Nettie Marie Newby, 83, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Whitfield Nursing Home in Corinth. She was born June 4, 1924, in Prentiss County, the daughter of Luther Delane Hatcher and Hazel Marie Johnson Hatcher. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Worship Center. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, and embroidering.
Services were at the Wesley Chapel Worship Center on Highway 145 South of Booneville, with burial in Kirkville Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors included her three sons, Jimmy (Sherley) Newby, Ronnie Newby, and J.C.(Wanda)Newby, all of Booneville; two daughters, Wanda (Donald) Hill and Sandra Credille, both of Tishomingo; two brothers, Johnny (Eva)Hatcher of Guntown, and Lane (Lettie) Hatcher of Dumas; five sisters, Sally (Curtis) Robins, Lorene Grant, Elawis Hurt, all of Ripley, Modell Robins of Houston, and Diane Reaves of Blue Springs; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dee Newby in May 1989; one daughter, Edith Roberts; her parents; one daughter -in-law, Martha Newby; five bothers, Murry Hatcher, Loyd Hatcher, Jody Hatcher, Arvin Hatcher, and Hyman Hatcher; and five sisters, Mabel Hurt, Ruby Hanes, Ruth Teel, Bessy Holt, and Ludy Wilbanks.
