Royce Shumpert, 60, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at his home in Booneville. He was a graduate of Wick Anderson High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College. He retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company in May 2004. He received a number of Perfect Attendance and Safety awards. He was a member of Oak Hill M.B. Church, where he served in the Usher Ministry. He was active in all works of the Booneville Baptist Association.
Services were at Oak Hill M.B. Church with burial in the church cemetery. Patterson Memorial Chapel of Corinth is was charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included his wife, Martha Louise Simmons Shumpert; his mother, Dorothy Shumpert McGaha; sons, Robert Shumpert of Jackson, Tenn., and Boyce J. Shumpert and Byron Shumpert of the home; daughters, Audrey Smith of Booneville and Zandra A. Shumpert of the home; brothers, Willam Foster, Carl Foster, Reggie Foster and Lee Foster; sisters, Geneva McCain (Oscar) of Grenada, Lois Shumpert of Booneville, Vanessa Star of Milwaukee, Wis., and Charlotte Foster and Irma Foster of Joliet, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchildren; five uncles, four aunts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lelon Foster; one brother; and his grandparents.
