Velma Irene "Othermama" George, 101, died April 29, 2008, at the Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville. She was born March 27, 1907, in Prentiss County to Jim Martin and Susan Savannah Fonden Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of Martin Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and traveling.
Services were at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Liberty Memorial Gardens.
Survivors included one son, Danny George (Martha) of Booneville; three daughters, Peggy Rinehart and Regetta Lambert (Lee), both of Booneville, and Jane Bladon (Ron) of Atlanta; two stepdaughters, Eloise Chisholm of Aberdeen and Evelyn Thornton of Booneville; her caregiver and special friend, Nema Reed; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Newt George, in 1955; one son, Johnny George; one daughter, Bobbie Bryan; and two grandchildren, Jackie Bryan and Shelia Bryan.
