Services were held Feb. 4, 1948 at the New Hope Church for Mrs. W. F. P. Smith, who died at her home in New Hope late Monday night, Feb. 2, 1948. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery with McMillan in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Smith was born and reared in Prentiss County and had lived in the New Hope Community most of her life.
Survivors included three sons, Newton T. and Robert Smith of New Hope, and Allen Smith of Chapel Hill; four daughters, Miss Kitty Smith of Booneville, Mrs. Elma Shackleford and Mrs. Elbert Pounds, both of New Hope and Mrs. T. C. Stanphill of Sheffield, Ala.; a brother, Tom Ballard of Red Bay, Ala.
