James M. (Jim) Shelton, 89, died May 31, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville. He was born Jan. 23, 1919 in Europa, to Joe Rob and Verna Peeples Shelton. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the 2nd Armored Division under Gen. George S. Patton, past President of the Lion's Club, and a member of the American Legion. He was a retired sales associate of Wal-Mart and a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Booneville.
Services were at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Booneville Cemetery.
Survivors included his wife, Josie Shelton of Booneville; one son, James M. Shelton Jr. (Shirley) of Tupelo; one step-daughter, Debra Allen (Roger) of Brandon; one step-son, Donald Bishop of Booneville; one sister, Mable Guarr of Meridian; one brother, Gayle Shelton (Myra) of Frostproof, Fla.; one granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen Shelton; three brothers and two sisters.
