Bettie Jo Hill, 74, died July 10, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was a graduate of Booneville High School Class of 1950. She enrolled in the nursing program at Doster School of Nursing in Columbus. After graduating from nursing school at the age of 19, she worked in many areas over North Mississippi. She started her career at the Columbus Hospital in Columbus, where she worked with Dr. Frank Baird. She continued her career with Dr. Sam Galloway in his clinic; at the Medical Clinic in Booneville; at the Baptist Hospital in Booneville; and as a T.B. nurse with the Mississippi Department of Health in Prentiss County. She finished her working career with Dr. William Preston. One of the most enjoyable things she did each year was going to Maywood Christian Camp and working as the camp nurse. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family.

Services were at the McMillan Funeral Home with burial in the Meadow Creek Methodist Church Cemetery.

Survivors included her mother, Bessie Pharr Floyd of Booneville; one daughter, Katie Jo Lindley (Ronnie) of Booneville; one son, Jim Hill (Laura) of Booneville; five grandchildren, John Ross Lindley, Kandace Moore (Chris), Lacey Hill, Tracey Hill and Lucy Jane Hill; three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Floyd; her husband, Jimmy Hill; and four brothers, Boyd Floyd, Gayle Floyd, Kenneth Floyd and Roy Clifton Floyd.
