Cook Families in Hinds County 1825-1828

Four Cook families acquired land patents in Hinds County, Mississippi during the three year span between October 1825 and May 1828:

First came John Cook in October 1825. The land patent lists him as "John Cook of Covington County."

Then both Abram and Elijah Cook in May, 1827

And last, David Cook in May 1828. The land patents list him in all but one instance as "David Cook of Amite County."

By plotting out the location of these land patents based upon their legal descriptions, I determined that these four families lived within a 2.5 mile radius of one another. I believe their land was in the southwestern corner of what was then Hinds but became Rankin County. Later, Abram and his descendants acquired land in Smith and Simpson Counties.

Secondly, Abram Cook (with his wife Dorothy) and Elijah Cook (with his wife Rebecca) were members of the Palestine Baptist Church.

Any information about any of these four families would be greatly appreciated.
