I am tracing Zedock and Ransom Helton / Hilton back to MS. where they say they were born. They were born in 1810 and 1818 and both state that it was in MS. They are living in Ballard Ky in 1850-1880. Ransom married Mary Watson in 1840 so he had to come into KY sometime before 1840. This helps to look at the Helton families in MS before 1840 and there are three.
Seemingly there are three possibilities.
William Hilton of Franklin Co, MS
30 -40 yrs old on the 1830 census with 9 kids
Jane Helton of Pike Co, MS 1820 Census
seems that there were 11 in the family
William Helton of Simpson Co, MS 1830 Census
9 in this family also.
If anyone might have a lead on Ransom and Zedock Helton / Hilton it would be appreciated. Or any of the families they come from.
