Clarksdale - C. C. "Bud" Phelps, 81, passed away at his home in Clarksdale on Friday, September 7, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose Verdicano Phelps; four sons, Budd (Lisa) Phelps, Keith (Kathy) Phelps, Tom (Cathy) Phelps and Tim (Debra) Phelps, all of Clarksdale; one sister, Mary Edna Robinson of Cleveland; four granddaughters, Sydney Rhea Lilly, Jamie Kate Lilly, Kathryn Anne Phelps, and Collins Phelps of Clarksdale. Mr. Phelps was born on September 9, 1925 in Merigold. He served in WW II while in the U. S. Navy. Bud worked 42 years in the furniture business and later started his own business, along with his four sons, known as Phelps Brothers Furniture and The Furniture Gallery. He was a member of Clarksdale Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and son, Ronald Collins Phelps. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Clarksdale Baptist Church, with Dr. Edd Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Old Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, MS.
