Dec. 7, 1931 - Nov. 26, 2004 Rev. Carl Brown, 72, died from a stroke Nov. 26, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in DeSoto County. He was a resident of Darling. Rev. Brown was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Sumner to the late Allen "Gold" and Callie Brown. He was a pastor/minister at Valley Queen Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Brown graduated from Marks Industrial High School and the Los Angeles Trade Technical College. He was a member of the U.S. Army. He was very involved in his community, serving in the Swan Lake Baptist Organization, Quitman County School Board, North Delta Ministerial Outreach, Quitman County Development Organization and the Foundation of Mid-South Commission to Build Philantrophy. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. Rev. Brown is survived by his wife, Marjorie Brown of Darling; five daughters, Cassandra Brown-Tillmon, Connella Brown-Polk, Marcella Brown and Carmella Brown of Darling and Vincena Brown of Mesa, Az.; two sons, Carl Darnell Brown of Marks and Alton Carwin Brown of Downey, Ca.; brother, Sylvester Brown of Los Angeles and sister, DeElla Pringle of Marks. A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 at Valley Queen Missionary Baptist Church in Marks. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Madison Palmer High School in Marks with Rev. Bennie Gaston officiating. Interment will follow at Belmount Cemetery. Notify Administrator about this message?
