Senatobia - CAMILLE GANN JOHNSON, 85, died May 16, 2007 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Senatobia Church of Christ, with burial following at Bethesda Cemetery in Senatobia. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 18 at Pate-Jones Funeral Home. Mrs. Johnson is survived by one son, Alex G. "Gil" Johnson III; two daughters, Karen Beavers and her husband, Wade and Marilyn White and her husband, Jimmy; four grandchildren, Doug Beavers and his wife, Lesley, Jim Beavers and his wife, Cathy, Nikki Grant and her husband, Martin, Courtney Hicks and her husband, Pete; and seven great-grandchildren, all of Senatobia. She is also survived by many other extended family members who love her dearly. Camille was born October 16, 1921 in Senatobia to Ozella Brewer Gann and Marvin O. Gann. In February 1942, she married her childhood sweetheart, A. G. "Stoogie" Johnson, Jr. During World War II, they lived in California, Texas, Mississippi, and Virginia, where Stoogie was stationed until he was sent overseas, in 1943, after completing her studies by correspondence, she returned to Blue Mountain College to receive her B.A. degree. From an early age, she was always interested in acting. Mrs. Elyse Veazey was her first acting teacher and Camille portrayed many TV characters at church activities. Camille taught kindergarten at Trenor's Day School for 4 years, and later home schooled her son, Gil. For the most part, she was a homemaker. Camille was a member of the Senatobia Church of Christ for over 50 years, a charter member of Coterie, and a member of the Magnolia Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 9, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Vickery and Verna Claire Brewer, both of Senatobia.
